Cellulite and Fat Reduction
The Palomar LuxIR™ Fractional Handpiece sends infrared light pulses deep into the dermis, where it creates a carefully controlled area of elevated temperature.
Skin Tightening through Soft Tissue Coagulation
These areas of elevated temperature cause soft tissue coagulation, which can lead to collagen remodeling in the deep dermis. Remodeled collagen can tighten sagging skin. Deep heating with infrared light can also stimulate increased collagen production, to create long term results.
The LuxIR’s infrared light is delivered as an array of small, regularly spaced beams, with depth of treatment ranging from 1.5 to 3 mm into the deep dermis. This Fractional Heating creates a lattice of hyperthermic islets, with each islet surrounded by unaffected tissue. Right: view from above of the beams emanating from the rectangular LuxIR treatment window.
Fractional Deep Heating is a much safer method of treatment because the overheated islets do not cause bulk damage of the target area. In addition, subsequent regrowth of cells and new collagen expression from neighboring healthy tissue during the healing process provides a quicker remodeling process, with little to no downtime for the client.
It is the newest FDA-cleared skin tightening procedure to safely and effectively treat facial and neck wrinkles without surgery. It is the only skin tightening device that is approved for use around the eyes. It has been used overseas in Europe and Asia for many years. Using advanced radiowave technology, the Pellevé™ system precisely heats the deep layers of the skin without damaging the epidermis, or top layer. The heat causes the collagen in the skin to contract and tighten. Old collagen is broken down to hasten the arrival of newer and tighter collagen. As an analogy, it is like breaking down old driveways to lay down the new cement. All of this occurs under the skin but the results are seen on the surface immediately after treatment with further tightening over a span of four months. After treatment, the skin begins to produce new collagen, which improves skin firmness, skin softness, and skin smoothness. The result is a naturally refreshed appearance. Age seems to melt away with the heat.
Great for scars, acne scars, brown pigment, melasma, fine lines and wrinkles. It is the only FDA approved laser for stretch marks and striae. Need topical anesthetic, feels like little rubber band snaps. No bleeding and no weeping of skin. Needs 2 to 4 treatments spaced a month apart. 1 to 3 day downtime as the skin gets swollen and pink/red. Not generally used as a “Lunchtime Peel” but can be. Does not give immediate glow to the skin. Gives a skin tightening effect.
